NFL Stats of the Week

October 23, 2007 – 12:49 pm

Since I sit at a computer for a majority of the day, I have a habit of reading various online articles upon their release. One such piece is ESPN Page 2’s Tuesday Morning Quarterback (written by Gregg Easterbrook), whose title is a parody of Peter King’s Monday Morning Quarterback. These commentaries are generally entertaining, but this week’s TMQ had a particularly interesting “Stats of the Week” section that I had to elaborate on. After the jump is the list with my commentary. Continue Reading »

Tiger-ade

October 19, 2007 – 10:15 am

Tiger Woods recently made official his deal with Gatorade that is worth a reported $100 million. Tiger has picked out the flavors himself, which obviously means they are the best flavors on planet earth. Not only does Tiger-ade taste good, but it will improve your swing!* Continue Reading »

Thursday Night Sports Smorgasboard

October 18, 2007 – 5:45 pm

So Manny Ramirez just hit a three hundred and ninety (yep, 3-9-0) foot RBI single in game 5 of the ALCS. It scored David Ortiz from first base. That is six different kinds of awesome.

Meanwhile, BCS and USA Today Poll #2 in the nation South Florida are down to unranked Rutgers by 3 with 9 minutes left. If you’ve never seen him, the Bulls’ coach is hilarious. He looks like a cross between Bill Cohwer and Bobby Knight.

New and Improved

October 18, 2007 – 1:44 pm

After somewhat of a hiatus…I’m back, baby! If you didn’t know, I had this site up and running through most of the spring and summer of 2006. I’ll spare you the details of why it vanished. Let’s just say this website is kind of like Kenny Lofton: just when you haven’t heard anything about him and you think he’s gone for good, there he is hitting a home run in game 3 of the ALCS. Meanwhile, some interesting things have happened during my blogging lull.

  • I’ve graduated college a second time and moved to beautiful Colorado Springs.
  • Another NFL season has started…which means my life is pretty much consumed with Fantasy Football right now. I love it more than a fat kid loves cake.
  • The Colorado Rockies are in the World Series! It’s Rocktober!
  • Notre Dame is now one of the worst teams in College Football. I absolutely despise the Fighting Irish, so this is an excellent turn of events. Charlie Weis is one donut short of looking like the fat kid from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
  • I bought a house.

I have copied in some of my blog posts from last winter (that were on my MySpace page) for your reading enjoyment. Check back in the coming months for new posts and I’ll enlighten you about each of these points, as well as others. Until then, live well.

Earl Boykins: Standing Up Tall for Short Guys Everywhere

January 11, 2007 – 9:41 am

So I’m sitting here in Colorado Springs, watching the Denver Nuggets take on the San Antonio Spurs on ESPN. Because of the roster shakeup the Nuggs are still adjusting to, Earl Boykins is in the starting lineup. Continue Reading »

Car Accidents Suck More than a Dyson Vacuum

December 10, 2006 – 4:40 pm

Let me preface this with two points.

  • I still consider myself an excellent driver. As the rest of this post proves, that has no bearing on one’s propensity for accidents. As a result, I am trying to improve my driving in any way possible.
  • Don’t get the idea that I don’t like the STi. I absolutely love it. It is loads of fun to drive, looks great, and is pee-your-pants fast (I have some stories to prove it). I’m rooting for snow here in Portland Continue Reading »

2006 NCAA Cross Country Nationals

November 30, 2006 – 2:38 pm
“Pressure is nothing more than the shadow of great opportunity.” — Michael Johnson

The NCAA National cross country meet is the mecca of college running. Anyone who knows anything about cross is either there or talking to someone who is there. This was my last college cross country race, but I tried to remain as relaxed and upbeat as I could in the two days leading up to the contest. This was accomplished by watching tons of football. And some basketball. And an episode or three of Family Guy. And Borat: The Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Khazakhstan (which was laugh-out-loud and then laugh-some-more-till-you-almost-pee-your-pants funny).
