To Flickr or Not to Flickr?

November 19, 2007 – 4:48 pm

Lately I have been thinking about how to better incorporate photos both into this site and my life in general. I have toyed around with an installation of Gallery2, which can be viewed here. It’s not a terrible solution, but it’s also not ideal. It certainly does not make it easy to incorporate photos into a Wordpress-powered blog. The most popular online photo alternative is Flickr, for which I currently have a free account. Continue Reading »

Blu-Ray Versus HD-DVD

November 14, 2007 – 7:47 pm

The Format WarI remember the good old days of VHS tapes. Man, were those awesome. Sure, you had to clean out the ‘ol VCR every once in a while, but you could record anything on television! Then, of course came the Digital Versatile Disc, or DVD. Picture quality was through the roof. You could skip anywhere in the disc quite easily; no more rewinding tapes once you’re done. Blockbuster used to have people tortured for not rewinding tapes. Anyway, now that DVDs are common, the latest and greatest invention of consumerism is high-definition discs, but there are two major types currently in a format war: Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Which one is the best? Continue Reading »

The Importance of Patriots vs. Colts

November 3, 2007 – 7:56 pm

This Sunday is perhaps the most hyped regular season NFL game of all time…the 8-0 New England Patriots go into the RCA Dome to take on the 7-0 Indianapolis Colts. This is the latest meeting of two undefeated teams since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger. The game has blockbuster potential and is, barring a huge upset in the early playoff rounds, a preview of the AFC championship game. Considering the superiority of the AFC in recent years, whoever wins this eventual match-up will be your world champion. However, there are some even bigger issues at the heart of this game. Google’s OpenSocial is Open for Business

November 2, 2007 – 11:18 pm

Google LogoGoogle recently announced the formation of an open-source application development suite, dubbed OpenSocial. It will allow third-party software developers to code their own applications for various social networking sites including LinkedIn, Ning, and Google’s own Orkut. Recently, it was confirmed that the big-daddy of social networks, MySpace, will also join in on the party. MySpace was recently ball-parked at 70 million users, which is a valuable asset to Google and a big hit to their competitors. What does all of this mean for Silicon Valley’s diaper dandy, Facebook? Divine Dis-Like (of the AL East)

November 1, 2007 – 10:49 am

Jesus Hates the AL East

Surfing the web is awesome. Some times you find wonderful things that you never knew existed. Today I found BustedTees.com and SnorgTees.com that both have some tee shirts that are funnier than Seinfeld in his prime. Check ‘em out for yourself. I’m going to have to order a couple of these.

Let me add that Jesus also hates the Red Sox. Just to make it clear.

Open Letter to Kobe Bryant

October 30, 2007 – 11:42 pm

Kobe Bryant stunned the basketball world when he asked for a trade from the Los Angeles Lakers last spring. I’ve been a Bryant fan and supporter since he broke into the league as a high-schooler brimming with potential. However, his latest drama has compelled me to write him an open letter to set straight a few things. Continue Reading »

Web Business Fenom: Facebook

October 28, 2007 – 11:11 pm

Kinda Weird Facebook LogoThere’s a good chance that you have a Facebook account. You probably check it at least once a day, perusing your friend list for new photos and new stalker “status” updates. Since you can import your blog posts right into your profile (like I have done), you might even be reading this on Facebook. The skyrocketing popularity of the social networking site has surprised everyone, except for perhaps early users and its founder, Mark Zuckerberg. There was recently some big news for the (relatively) new company, and it got me thinking about Facebook’s future. Continue Reading »
