Knight Rider Making a Comeback
January 29, 2008 – 8:35 pmHot on the heels of American Gladiators triumphant return to modern television comes another refresh of a cult classic. The new Knight Rider will attempt to cash in on a once lucrative franchise and its iconic symbol, the talking car named KITT. How will this modern rendition fare against the classic episodes?

The New KITT
Pictured above is the new version of the centerpiece to the show. If you have never seen a classic episode of Knight Rider, KITT is a vehicle with artificial intelligence. In a nutshell, the car can drive itself, make witty remarks, and has cool features such as the “turbo boost”. If there were a turbo boost package available in the free market, I would be first in line to pick one up. He also is equipped with an olfactory sensor, enabling him to smell certain things. Which is nice. The new adaptation is a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR with 540 H.P., which is downright fantastic even if it is a far cry from the original 1982 Pontiac Firebird. Personally, I would have chosen a murdered-out Chevy Corvette ZR1…but maybe that beast could make a guest appearance as an arch-enemy car or something. I hope you are taking notes, NBC.
The new series kicks off with a special two-hour movie event on February 17th. I can’t wait to see the turbo boost in action!

Is Hasselhoff going to be in it? He’s got to be really old by now…

I believe I read that Hasselhoff will be making guest appearances. The main character is supposed to be his long-lost son, so he’ll probably be around more than he needs to be. I think it would be great if he still drives the original 1982 Firebird KITT, and maybe they come to the rescue a couple times. That would make the show roughly twelve times better.
